My name is Kanal Kato.
I'm a Yeoman Traditional Craftsman & Artist,
weaving dreams in my workshop based in Toyooka City JP.

I never imagined that basket making
would become my career & my passion.
After spending few years training with master.
I spent a further a year honing my skills. 


So in 2020 I was lucky enough to gain a full backup through
as a Local Vitalization Cooperator the intern system of the country.
I spent few years under the old weavers guidance absorbing every bit of knowledge & experience.
Learning about precision basket making, made to measure skills and expertise in every works.


My true passion and purpose is making creativity full & timeless items using the skills and identity
that I learnt from my parents, old weavers, and the experience about 7 years in Germany and many others.
I love the challenge of working on bespoke commissions & bringing abstract ideas to life.
Working with creativity and imaginations.


Best  of all I get to share my skills and teach the nextgeneration of willow weavers. 
Passing on the baton as my Mentor did to me.
